Informacje ogólne

The Komorniki Commune is located toward the southwesterly part of the Poznań City. It consists of 13 towns and settlements, including 8 villages possessing their own administrators' offices: Komorniki (about 3 thousand inhabitants), Plewiska (about 2,4 thousand inhabitants), Wiry (about 2,1 thousand inhabitants), Chomęcice (about 0,76 thousand inhabitants), Łęczyca (about 0,7 thousand inhabitants), Rosnówko (about 0,6 thousand inhabitants), Szreniawa (about 0,67 thousand inhabitants) and Głuchowo (about 0,52 thousand inhabitants). The Commune's density of population is quite high due to the fact that its 11 thousand inhabitants populate rather smallish area of 6,655 ha. The workforce comprises 58% of its population.

The Commune's location near the Komorniki Hub, where its borders meet the boundaries of Poznań and at the Berlin-Warsow crossroads (planned motorway A-2) and Gdynia-Wrocław (the state road # 5 Bolków-Œwiecie), make it an ideal place as far as the communication is concerned. The west section of the planned thoroughfare ring around Poznań, from the Głuchowo Hub on the A-2 motorway to the Suchy Las Commune, will make for better connection of the Commune with the state road # 11 (Poznań-Kołobrzeg).

There are local projects of further development of the area that borders the planned highway. They allot the grounds for industrial development, complemented by land plots for detached house projects. It means that an investor may build a house in close vicinity of his investment.

For the Commune's inhabitants and employees there are a lot opportunities to actively pursue their leisure time. About 25% of the Commune land lies within the boundaries of the Wielkopolski National Park, with the neighbouring sports, recreation and tourist areas.

In 1995 Komorniki Commune as one of the first in Poland carried the referendum on the issue of imposing voluntary taxes on behalf of waste management. Levied funds allowed for almost total removing of all litter from the Commune's landscape. Introduced in 1997 tax deductions allowed for decreasing of wastes' volume disposed at the Commune's filling site. And the inhabitants got used to garbage selection. The construction of purification plant was started in 1996. It has been fully operational since 2000. It will process 2022 cubic metres of sewage per day.

Infrastructure

The Commune's lands around Plewiska and Komorniki is flat with only a minor inclination, but its landscape near Łęczyca, Wiry, Szreniawa, Rosnówko and Walerianowo is rolling and rather hilly with lots of natural reservoirs of water. This adds to the attractiveness of the Commune as a place of rest and leisure activity, which will be additionally enhanced by a number of artificial lakes currently in the phase of project development.

Until the planned motorway A-2 has been completed, it is possible to access the state road #2 (E 30) by the PrzeŸmierowo Hub (with on-rams in both directions). After the motorway is built, the Commune will be connected with international and state roads through the hubs in Komorniki and Głuchowo.

here is only one railway side-track in the village of Szreniawa but it is only about 5 km from the prospective industrial development area. But it is always possible to take advantage of another railway side-track, Poznań-Górczyn, which is only 3 km away.
