SITUATION AND CHARACTER OF COMMUNITY
Community Komorniki is situated in Wielkopolskie Province, District Poznań. The main
advantage of the community is its situation in the proximity of Poznań and the Wielkopolski
National Park. Another advanatage is the proximity of the main transport routes -the main roads
No 3 and 5 and the exit of the motorway A-2 which is under construction at the moment.
HISTORY
The first human traces in the community date from approximately 9th 7th c. BC when the
groups of Mesolithic communities appeared in the religion. They used to deal with hunting,
fishing and plant picking. The archaeological data prove that in the Bronze and early Iron Ages
there used to be relatively permanent settlements here, consisting of a village and a burial site each At the turn of the 141h c the colonization by German law was introduced in this region. The
following villages were located then -Głuchowo, Komorniki (1297), Plewiska (1335) and Wiry
(1357).
TOURISM AND RECREATION
The Wielkopolski National Park is the advanlage of the community. There are two walking
tourists routes which go through the community. Furthermore, a cycling path has been laid out
along the Warta river, from Puszczykowko through Łęczyca to Dębiec. There are five lakes in the
community. Szreniawskie (3 ha), Lug (1 ha), Rosnowskie Duże (34.21 ha), Rosnowskie Małe
(9.84 ha) and Jarosławieckie (12.9 ha).
he National Museum of Agriculture and Food-Processing Industry in Szreniawa owns
numerous exibits concerned with agriculture. It is a national institution recording the history and
present day of agriculture and rural culture. The manor house which is the seat of the Museum
was built in 1852 by the family of Bierbaum, the village founders.
As everywhere in the country, there are a lot of interesting places to visit: the church buildings in Komorniki, the church buildings in Wiry, the manor buildings in Szreniawa,
Food-Processing Industry) the Bierbaums' mausoleum,
the manor parks set up in English manner in the first half of the I 9th c. in Szreniawa,
Komorniki, Plewiska and Głuchowo.
In the community there is one four-star hotel "GREEN HOTEL", the property of the
company Stalexport Wielkopolska.
